Like many other people, I love robins and their songs, and we are lucky to have robins living in our garden. There are few things so uplifting as hearing a robin sing, so when I created this illustration I tried to capture the explosion of joyfulness expressed by the singing robin and experienced by the listener. In the story in which this illustration features - "The Tree with a Golden Heart" - the robin is first seen (and heard) perching on a low branch over a woodland waterfall which splashes down into a small pool. It was this real local scene I had in mind when I painted the background to this image.
I have been told so many times that this image should be a Christmas card that eventually I agreed :-)
The original illustration from which this card is reproduced was created with water soluble Indian Ink and Faber-Castell Albrecht Durer watercolour pencils on Fabriano Artistico HP watercolour paper.

Christmas card printed on Premium quality Century Soho 300 gsm card stock, sourced from sustainable forestry and FSC certified, with white paper envelope.
Greeting inside reads "Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year"
Size approx. 150mm (6") square.
This square card is hinged at the left-hand side and protected by a cellophane wrapper.
It has a small copy of the image and descriptive text on the back of the card.
This card features one of my most popular illustrations - a robin singing joyfully at the top of his voice, originally created for my children's book "The Tree with a Golden Heart" in the Adventures of Algy series.
This image is also available in two designs of blank greetings cards.
