Item details
500,000 tonnes of tyres are thrown away every year in the UK. They have not been allowed in landfill since 2006 so alternative means of disposal must be found.
Unfortunately they can be very difficult to recycle due to being made from a combination of rubber, steel and textile. They can, however, easily be upcycled in numerous ways.
Despite this people are still dumping them in forests and green areas!
If you have old tyres please consider donating them or have a go at upcycling them yourself.
