This cosy pixie hat is handmade by me and would fit a child from 2 to 4 years. It is made using 100% Peruvian highland wool held double, so it is extra warm. It is fastened with a round mother of pearl button. It can easily be made tighter by using any of the gaps between the stitches on the chin strap as the button hole. I crochet an extra border row around the edge so it fits snugly around the ears.

When my eldest son was small, he loved nothing more than yanking off his hat at any given opportunity. So I decided that what he needs was a hat which was cosy, warm and fit well ... and with a strap under the chin so it stayed on! In all of the craft fairs I have some over the past six years, this style of pixie hat has always been my most popular item.
