Item details
The blues and greens on this bowl were inspired by a trip to Norfolk, I wanted to capture the colours of the Broads and the water meadows there.
The bowl is made by first creating a sheet of glass with the stripes on (fusing the colours in a kiln at just under 800°C), then cutting a circle from this sheet.
The circle of striped glass is fused again in the kiln to another circle of clear glass, which is slightly larger, creating a strong disc of glass and the narrow clear rim.
This disc is then fired again in the kiln over a ceramic mould to create the graceful bowl shape.
