We often watch swifts darting around the sky sometimes mind-boggingly high up.
One summer's evening we had a rare treat when they spent about 20 minutes buzzing our granite building right above us, within 5ft, performing incredible aerobatics at high speed whilst feasting on insects & avoiding slamming into the granite. Twas a thrilling sight.
We also regularly witness vibrantly dramatic late-night summer sunsets. High-contrast-lit sky as the sun disappears behind us, clouds partially obscure it, treating us to colourful panoramas above the sea.
Those two images are my memories of summer which remind me, during the darker winter months, that there are such things as long warm summer evenings!
In this print, I've combined various features I love about our sunsets with two swifts vivifying the tranquility...

Original limited edition LinoCut Print of Swifts dining on insects at Sunset, viewed from Porthminster, St Ives, Cornwall - 3 impressions using gorgeous letterpress inks on beautiful paper.
This image is printed from 3 linocut blocks, each built, cut & Hand-printed by me using traditional methods. Each block is inked up by hand & then HandPulled (by me) on my old press - 3 impressions to achieve the final image. Colours are mixed by me.
Each print is numbered, titled and signed in pencil underneath the image in the traditional convention. The small edition total is only 10.

It's very hard to convey, in a photograph, the truly beautiful physical quality of the ink & vibrant colour on this gorgeously soft-to-touch paper!
