freehand embroidered floral bird notebook cover with A6 sketchbook included.
inspired by the glorious summer, the little bird and swirly floral design on this embroidered cover features a co-ordinating combination of bright coloured cottons. each tiny component is hand-cut and (so patiently!) layered then appliqued onto hand dyed cotton calico. the detail is stitched on freestyle, using the free motion embroidery technique.
this cover is made entirely on a domestic sewing machine – no computerised gubbins - everything is cut, stitched and handmade, with care, by me, ensuring each notebook cover is unique, well made and securely constructed.
the slipcover is made from heavy weight calico which has been pre-washed several times so it’s soft and should not shrink when washed. whilst every care's been taken, this item is hand dyed so colours may run or fade when washed.
the cover is stiffened with interfacing, & the seams are overlocked and topstitched.
the calico cover is washable and re-usable, simply replace the sketchbook when it's full.
the sketchbooks are manufactured in the UK. they are quality casebound hard cover books, containing 92 pages of 140gsm acid-free, all media cartridge paper.
my design is based on original drawings by Little Black Heart, and is used under license.
