About a decade ago, I worked in a particularly cold office, so I made some fingerless mitts from a pattern in a magazine. My hands were so cold, I wanted something I could wear to type. I fell in love with them. I kept finding different uses for them, and found myself wearing them more and more.
There were some basic problems with the fit and style, so I decided to design my own mitts, and over the years I have experimented with yarns and sizes. I have now perfected my pattern and can carry on finding new and inventive designs for the backs.

These soft, green mitts are elegant, yet practical. With a heart pattern on the back and a smooth palm, they are made from a very squishy, plump wool, providing warmth and elasticity.
The size is medium (19cm around knuckles), made to fit snugly with a degree of stretch.
Fingerless mitts protect and warm your hands, while keeping fingers and thumbs free for many purposes:
- using your phone
- driving
- typing
- holding a child's hand (particularly useful when they are prone to running off!)
I have incredibly dry hands (exacerbated by being a mother who needs to wash them often) and I use these mitts whenever it's cold, to protect my hands from drying out.
