For several years we kept hens. They were completely un phased by the dog who would rush up to their end of the garden to stand and stare at them through the fence incensed by their presence. They would reward him with the occasional peck on the nose for his efforts.
When gardening I would often be joined by a curious chicken clucking companionably as I pottered about and of course there was the thrill of discovering a warm freshly laid egg.
