I love angels.The basic torso was made using layers of strips of newspaper then paper towel, glued on with PVA glue and wall paste on a mannequin mould. Each layer was left to dry before the next layer could be apply. The same procedure was used on a glass head to get the shape. The wings and arms were made from wire mesh to get the shape then the paper mache was applied. Paper towel (soaked in PVA glue and wall paper paste) was draped on the torso to look like a Grecian dress. The same procedure was used to create the feathers on the wings. Paper clay (mixture of paper tissue, compound glue, PVA glue and baby oil mixed together in a mixer to form a clay like mixture) was used to create the face features, the leaf head decoration and add more definition to the wings. Once completed the whole piece was sealed in joint compound and PVA glue then 6 layers of varnish.
