Full description
Many regard the Lin Cable as THE best thread to use for leather goods, and it is the brand that Hermes uses for their range of luxury bags and items. This listing is for one 50g spool of their thickest thread (lin cable no. 332).
This thread has been corded which means that after twisting it once, it has been twisted again, and if you look at it closely it resembles miniature rope. This process makes it especially strong and round. The thread has been waxed before cording, which gives it a pleasant sheen and smooth finish without rendering it sticky like the heavily waxed Irish thread.
Adding additional wax by hand can be necessary and can easily be done.
The No. 332 cabled linen thread has a diameter of approximately 0.77mm and one spool has a length of about 133m.
This thread is made foremost as a leather sewing thread, but can be used for all projects that use linen thread, including bookbinding. Because it thread is especially strong, it is not recommended for book repair projects, though, that might involve weak paper.
