Light patterns & fog horns sounding from Mannez &, particularly, Les Casquets lighthouses (Alderney) were the backdrop to a significant portion of my young life.
These days I'm lucky enough to look at Godrevy every day. Each sighting of it is different, due to the change of light according to the time of day or depending on weather. Sometimes you can’t see it at all, or it just pokes through sea-mist rolling up Cornwall's Hayle Estuary.
Godrevy Lighthouse is reputed to have inspired Virginia Wolf’s novel & so a number of properties in the vicinity claim ‘theirs' was where she stayed when she got that inspiration!
What I adore about Godrevy are the changing shapes & colours of the rock, headlands, sea & sky. From our viewpoint, we see the rock's dramatic fissure ~you can see it in this print~ which lines up with an adit at Porthminster Point. The adit runs a long way inland & was a natural water drain for a prominent tin mine. I love the geology of it! I love that shape!!

Full description
Original limited edition linocut print of Godrevy Lighthouse, viewed from Porthminster, St Ives, Cornwall - 5 impressions using gorgeous letterpress inks on beautiful paper. The colours are richer than I can get the photos to show.
This image is printed from 5 linocut blocks, built, cut & Hand-printed by me using traditional methods. Each block is inked up by hand & then HandPulled (by me) on my old press - 5 impressions to achieve the final image.
Each print is numbered, titled and signed in pencil underneath the image in the traditional convention.
This Hand-pulled Limited Edition Print is an Original Artwork - not a digital reproduction.

It's very hard to convey, in a photograph, the truly beautiful physical quality of the ink & it's colour on this gorgeously soft-to-touch paper!
