Colourful, quirky and elegant jewelry piece.
The first stage is making the cabochon art centre piece which is printed and then secured in place using clear modge podge on glass. Mod podge is a glue type substance that dries clear by simply painting a coat onto the image. In turn this is pressed against the blank glass cabochon and left to dry.
The next stage in making this Hawaiian flower necklace style, is to place the cabochon onto a stiff white interfacing (with double sided sticky tape) used as a base for the bead embroidery work. This bead work is a Native American Indian stitch called peyote. A beader’s fine needle, thread and seed beads are used to sew around the edges, to create this daisy jewellery design.
The petals are then sewn by looping and entwining seed beads making a burst of jewel flower petals.
The back of the choker necklace is covered in faux suede, making it soft and comfortable against the skin. The daisy pendant is secured onto seed bead necklace with a lobster clasp and extender chain. The flower pendant can easily be removed should you wish to pop it on a cuff bracelet or another chain.
