Have a romantic lie-in with this hand-made hardwood breakfast tray made of Sapele (a member of the mahogany family).
Feel just like one of the Crawley family at Downton Abbey as you languish in bed eating your eggs Benedict.
Whilst there are very cheap versions out there this is an item of quality that will last as an heirloom if looked after.
It is large enough to take a plate, bowl, cup and saucer as well as cutlery and flatware and a glass of juice.
It would make a luxurious gift for the person who has everything or as a thoughtful romantic present for your loved one or a newly married couple.
It is made entirely of solid hardwood and finished with french polish (shellac) and wax. It is fitted with solid brass screws and hinges. The upper frame is made with handcut dovetails and glued.

This model has spade feet.

I started bringing my wife breakfast in bed at the weekends (only at weekends -I’m not completely daft). We both enjoyed watching Downton Abbey and I noticed that breakfast in bed was served on beautiful trays with legs. I searched the internet and could only find either cheap mass produced “invalid” trays or a few antique items on ebay.
I decided to make one myself and it has been a huge success ever since.
