The jackdaw was one of the twelve bird paintings I did for a calendar for family and friends. I decided that the paintings would make great notecards for bird lovers and gardeners.

Full description
A member of the crow family, the jackdaw isn't everyone's favourite garden visitor. We get loads of them in the garden - easy to recognise with their silvery grey head and slightly unsettling blue eyes. I believe that they are highly intelligent birds.
I've tried to capture the sheen of their black feathers in greens, purples and indigo. The original painting was done on a softly textured watercolour paper, and the image on the card shows that texture against an off-white background. On the back of the card, I chose three colours from the painting to feature.
I painted this one as part of a series of twelve birds in watercolour for a calendar project.
The square card measures 148 x 148 mm and is supplied with a white laid envelope. Your card will be carefully packed in a cello sleeve and posted to you in a sturdy board back mailer.
