I'm away at Woolfest, so any orders or queries will be dealt with on Monday 25th.
This unusual clock will make a great wall feature. A lovely square wall clock handmade from the world renowned Harris Tweed hand-woven wool fabric in yellow and black Macleod tartan. This is the "Loud" or "Dress" Lewis style of the MacLeod tartans, rather than the more usual green and blue style.
It is generally held that Leod was the younger son of Olaf the Black one of the last Norse Kings of Man and the North Isles. Olaf died around 1237 and Leod inherited the Islands of Lewis and Harris with part of Skye.
The "12 o'clock" position is marked by the "Orb" label, your guarantee of genuine Harris Tweed (see below). The clock measures approx. 20cm (8 inches) square. The modern clock mechanism inside the back requires one AA battery (only included for UK customers).
I have other colours and designs of Harris Tweed clocks available, https://folksy.com/shops/rosesworkshop/collections/250390
or contact me for your custom order.
To protect your clock on it's journey it will be padded with bubble wrap and packed in a cardboard box. To get your lovely purchase to you quickly and safely I use Royal Mail tracked / signed for services. If this is a gift for someone else I can send it to them directly. Please let me know so I can leave out the invoice paperwork, and include a personal message from you if desired.
All Roses Workshop items are handmade by me in my Lancashire workshop. Custom orders are welcome.
About Harris Tweed:
The definition of Harris Tweed contained in the Harris Tweed Act of 1993 clearly defines Harris Tweed as follows:
"Handwoven by the islanders at their homes in the Outer Hebrides, finished in the Outer Hebrides, and made from pure virgin wool dyed and spun in the Outer Hebrides."
The Act ensures that all cloth certified with the Harris Tweed Orb symbol complies with this definition and is genuine Harris Tweed, the world’s only commercially produced handwoven tweed.
