Full description

Below the iconic island of Ailsa Craig, glass fish swim through blue water above a seaweed covered seabed.

Hang this colourful fused glass sun-catcher near an open window, and the fish, sea and seaweed will turn in the breeze.

Made from fused glass and specialised glass paint, each piece is hand cut and hand painted before assembly in a kiln and heated to over 800 degrees celsius here in my studio in Kirkoswald, Ayrshire.

The individual pieces of the sun-catcher are strung on sturdy, s-lon beading thread, with seed beads as spacers.

Each sun-catcher is approximately 6.5cm wide and 20cm high. Including the hanging hoop, the total drop is around 26cm.

Each sun-catcher is securely packaged and sent first class by Royal Mail.

Situated off the coast of South Ayrshire, Ailsa Craig is the granite heart of an extinct volcano. The island is the main source of the stone used in the manufacture of curling stones and is also a bird sanctuary, home to large numbers of nesting gannets.

NB: Each sun-catcher is unique so please note that the sun-catcher you receive may not be the one shown in this listing.
