I have made several pendants in this style in different colours and styles of beautiful Murano glass and they are my most loved design. As they are made by hammering sterling silver wire and forging it into shape, they are all completely unique and one of a kind. I love the way that the wire appears to grow into the shape of the arrow when I make the pendant, and the risk of hammering next to the precious Venetian bead is something of a thrill!
About Murano Glass Beads
Glass beads have been made on the island of Murano in the Venetian Lagoon since the 13th Century when glassmaking was moved there to prevent fires breaking out in the city. Many of the techniques used by the artists who make the glass are closely guarded secrets, and it helped to be located on an island where few people were allowed to visit. Nowadays the glass making process is still done by hand and Murano glass is recognised as the finest of its kind in the world.

This stunning Murano Heart pendant is light amethyst in colour with a silver core that appears to make it glow from within. It is inspired by the Roman legend of Cupid and his magical bow. According to legend Cupid is a mischeivous boy who enjoys causing trouble for mortals by piercing their hearts with an arrow or dart from his bow, which makes them fall hopelessly in love. The heart itself measures 18 mm long and is genuine Murano glass from Venice itself. I have mounted this delicately beautiful work of art by crafting a sterling silver arrow entirely by a hand forging process of heating and hammering the metal, then carving out the details by hand such as the fletchings at the top of the shaft. This makes each arrow unique and totally one of a kind. At 40 mm 1 3/4" long and mounted on a 450 mm 17 3/4" sterling silver chain, this pendant would make a beautiful gift which is sure to be appreciated and treasured for years to come.
It comes packaged carefully in a black gift box, fastened with a satin bow.
