This one of a kind denim vest is made from upcycled jeans and inspired by kintsugi, the japanese art of celebrating damage. the lining is made from a selection of striking red fabrics.

This vest was the first of the jackets i made after i had the idea to upcycle clothes in a way that tells the story of what the materials used to be. i have bags and bags of fabric pieces and old garments that i didn't know what to do with them, but didn't want to throw them away. I have also always admired the art of kintsugi which is all about not hiding away flaws, but rather accept and learn to love them as its part of the big picture. I like to apply this philosophy to life, as its those good and bad experiences and journeys that really make us individual. I really enjoy applying this idea to garments as everything i end up making has its own identity and look.
