I used to live around the corner from the University Cafe on White Street and popped in now and again for chips. It is one of the characteristic features of Byres Road and has hardly changed at all since it opened in 1918. Featuring in the Independent Newspaper's top ten student eateries, it was described as 'the undeniable king of greasy spoons'.

I originally though it wouldn't be that interesting to make in Lego, but when a customer asked me to make it I soon realised that it was ideally suited.

Full description

The University Cafe on Byres Road is one of the oldest businesses still thriving in Glasgow's West End. I've recreated its couthy, old-fashioned Scots-Italian character in this cute Lego model. Made from around 220 Lego Bricks, and decorated with stickers based on original photographs, it represents a beautiful decorative addition to the mantlepiece.
