Item details

This is an intricately hand stitched embroidery measuring approximately 6.5cm by 6.5cm. The background is of a coastal landscape using layers of silk dupion, cotton and organzas overstitched by hand using embroidery silks and threads. The small bird is padded and therefore three dimensional and sits raised approximately 1cm above the background. The bird is stitched using threads, a feather and wire.
The embroidery is mounted in a white cardboard mount measuring 19.6cm by 19.6cm.
The embroidery will be posted out in this mount ready to be framed.

I wanted to make a small sea bird with a bit of character and place him in a coastal landscape of the kind that is very close to my home. I live a stone's throw from a shingle beach looking out towards the Isle of Sheppey, the wind farms and the passing ships. I enjoy walking along the beach and looking at the birds, plants and animals that make their home here too.
