Mistletoe was a sacred plant to the Druids, the ancient priesthood of Celtic Britain. It is said that it was associated with eternal life, as it is an evergreen. It was associated with the Yuletide during the pagan Anglo Saxon period.

This is a minimalist take on the Art Nouveau style mistletoe pendant faithfully reproducing the shape and habit of the mistletoe plant with pure white fine quality freshwater pearls as the white berries. Perfect for wearing at Christmas dinner and parties. I made it (excluding the bail) by carving, bending, heating and hammering chunky 2 mm square sterling silver wire, into the shape of the leaves. The fine botanical detail of the leaves was engraved by me directly onto the metal, creating a miniature sculpture of the plant. The leaves have been given a satin finish to reflect the quality of real mistletoe leaves, which are dull and not waxy. Finally these almost perfectly round and lustrous fine freshwater white pearls were added to metal prongs attached to the piece. The entire pendant measures 28 mm 1" long by 28 mm 1" wide and is mounted on a 450 mm 17 3/4" sterling silver chain. The final photograph depicts the pendant next to a vintage lipstick case measuring 3" or 80 mm, to give a sense of scale. Each of these pendants is created individually, so they are all slightly different and may not be precisely the same as the photograph shown. This pendant has been hallmarked by the London Assay Office for 925 sterling silver and has a 2019 date letter.
This subtle and elegant pendant is presented in a gift box fastened with a satin ribbon, ready to give as a Christmas present.
