I simply love watching Dragonflies and Damselflies hovering round water in the summer and this range of stained glass suncatchers are my way of expressing my love for these small but magnificant insects.
I used to work in the country near a natural pond and during the summer I used to eat my lunch outside sat beside the pond and if I was lucky I could watch the dragonflies on the rushes near me, and on very rare but special occasions sat on my bag beside me. This certainly made my lunchtimes special.

Full description
This beautilful suncatcher, created to represent a Dragonfly hovering above a Bull Rush, will look stunning decorating a window in your home. The photos simply don't show how pretty these suncatchers are.
The Dragonfly wings for this piece have been made from a streaked yellow glass, the Bull Rush from a streaked brown glass and lastly the leaves are cut from a sheet of green glass. Each piece of glass was hand cut and smoothed before the copper foil was attached and the individual pieces were coated with a thin layer of solder. The oval frame has been made by twisting long lengths of copper wire by hand before cutting them to the required length. The frame was soldered into shape and the stained glass pieces arranged inside to create this charming piece before the curly hanging rings were attached. The suncatcher was then washed and polished with a stained glass cleaner and polish to bring out the colours of the glass and a high shine to the solder.
My stained glass Dragonfly suncatcher measures approximately 28cm or 11 inches high and is about 16cm, or 6.5 inches, from side to side.
Please remember that as each piece is individually made and hand cut it may vary slightly from the photos shown, for example the leaves may be in a slightly different position or slightly longer or shorter than those shown in the photo. The quality however will not vary as I pride myself on the quality of my finish.
