This is an original linocut in black and white inspired by my surroundings in Norfolk. It is from a limited edition of 50 and is signed at the bottom of the print. Print measurements are 24.5cm x 21cm and paper size is 34cm x 30cm. This is a unique design, fine in detail and is provided unmounted and unframed. The linocut approach involves cutting a design on the surface of the lino block and takes a considerable length of time. Proofs are then made before the final design is finished. Printing ink is rolled onto the surface of the lino and pressure is provided by a relief printing press adhering the image to a sheet of paper. It is only possible to make one print at a time and each print is therefore unique and may vary slightly from others.

Foxes are rarely seen close up but their outline as they move away into the distance is spellbinding. The colour of the fox is also extremely beautiful. With this image I wanted to see how effectively I could render the detail of the coat as well as it facial features and whiskers. I feel that creating an image of an animal gives me the opportunity of studying it in great detail so that by the time I have finished I can know a little better what they are like.
