This treasure box has an incredibly detailed design on the lid created from a photograph I took in the Scottish Highlands of lichen. It has ornate metal corner protectors and a two part action catch. In this listing, the body of the box is painted in ‘Shutter grey’ Miss Mustard seed’s milk paint, with the lichen design in ambers, rusts, moss greens and golds...edged with gold coloured metallic wax.
Using a developed process, I 'melt' the design, which has been printed on a water slide decal, into the wood and I can produce the design in a variety of colours.
The box is made from Empress wood, which is quite a light weight wood, and the inside is lined with silver script' paper showing parts of an old forgotten letter; just right for a treasure box!

The irregular edge of the design on the lid is studded with tiny dots of metallic wax, and the corner protectors have been hammered into place using little brass nails.

The treasure box measures approx. 27.5 x 21 x 15cm

N.B. A new box is made each time I receive an order so please be aware that minor differences may occur with each individual box order. The lining paper may differ from that shown in the photographs, but if I use a different design I will always let you know first.

After taking a high resolution photograph of some beautifully patterned lichen on a boulder in the Scottish Highlands, I decided it would be perfect to decorate a range of boxes with. I’ve developed the process of attaching the image to wood and as each one is slightly different it’s always exciting to see how each one turns out!

You can return any other item for a refund (minus the original postage costs) within 14 days of receipt. You must pack the item securely. You are responsible for the return postage costs and must obtain, retain and provide evidence of proof of posting if requested, and the item must be insured against damage or loss up to its value. Please contact me before you return an item. If the item is faulty then it can be returned for replacement or refund within 6 months of receipt.
