A fun, quirky piece of needle felted hoop art for any insect fan.
This is my needle felted Rhinocerous Beetle which I made following a trip to Bristol Museum where I studied their collection of beetles.
This beetle has a wire frame underneath the wool and has wire lower wings that I have weaved Swarovski Crystals into.
It's upper wings are two beautiful beads from a piece of repurposed jewellery.
The background is a piece of Jane Churchill Fabric in cream with white embroidered flowers and leaves. I like to use old pieces of fabric from discontinued pattern books to give them a new purpose.
The back of the frame is covered in a Abraham Moon wool plaid fabric in colours that complement the beetle on the front.
Finished with one of my labels and framed within an embroidery hoop frame.
Not for children under 14 years due to small parts.
Please see my other items for sale as I am happy to combine postage.
I made this beetle hoop following a survey I ran on my Instagram and Facebook page. I asked people to tell me their Favourite Insects as I wanted to make needle felted versions of the top 5. Beetles came in at 5th place.
