Full description
This necklace has been made by me using Polymer Clay. The process involves blending colours of raw clay and creating a surface pattern by indenting the clay with a variety of shapes and texture and then carefully shaving away layers to produce an interesting design.
I make a base bead shape and then apply the design veneer to the surface. The beads are then baked to harden the clay. Next I add a textured backing sheet of clay, and bake again to harden it.
After baking, the seven long beads are sanded and buffed to create a surface shine and bring out the glitter of the sparkly silver inclusions.
A further 8 round beads have been made using the same patterned veneer, six as spacing beads between the long curved beads, and two as fastening.
The beads have been strung on red wine colour leather. The magnetic clasp is embedded in matching round beads.
The total length of the necklace is approximately 510 mm. The largest bead is approximately 70 mm long.
