original applique & freehand embroidered floral kitty notebook cover with A6 sketchbook - black cat.
this embroidered cover features a miserable looking zombie kitty, surrounded by pretty flowers & skulls.
the cat is cut from charcoal, turquoise & blue cottons and an aqua floral liberty print lawn.
i individually hand-cut each piece of fabric, and then (very patiently!) layer & applique them onto cotton calico to build up the image, before “drawing” the intricate details on freehand, using free motion embroidery.
the kitties eyeballs are hand embroidered.
there's no computerised wizardry here; each cover is made entirely on a domestic sewing machine.
it's entirely cut, stitched and handmade , with care, by me, ensuring each notebook cover is unique, well made and securely constructed.
the slipcover itself is made from heavy weight calico which has been pre-washed several times so it’s soft and should not shrink when washed.
the seams are overlocked and topstitched and the cover is stiffened with interfacing.
the calico cover is washable and re-usable, simply replace the A6 sketchbook when it's full.
the sketchbooks are manufactured in the UK - they're quality casebound hard cover books, containing all media cartridge paper.
my design is based on an original drawing by my sister - Little Black Heart - and is used under license.
