I have decorated this pendant with a scrolled technique. Enamels are particularly adapted to this technique.
After building up a solid base of several layers of white enamel I added other colours randomly, by scattering small heaps of enamel powder on the base. When the piece reached red heat in the kiln I drew through the surface with a steel point to disturb the colours and draw them into a pattern. This is not a controlled activity in the sense that the colours move in ways i can predict and arrange; I get what the material allows.
Each pattern made in this way is unique.

I have made the pendant by first building a base of white enamel on the copper shape. I scattered green and gold enamel on this and then, while the piece was at red hot in the kiln, I drew through the surface with a steel point to create the unique, random pattern.
I have made this pendant by first enamelling it with white enamel then adding blue and the pink enamel using stencil techniques to confine the ccours to the selected area of the piece.
