This is a stained glass suncatcher made using the Tiffany copper foil technique.
A brand new design for summer 2017 and I think it is quite stunning and very special.
It is a 'picture' of a Bird of Paradise flower .
The flower is bright and vibrant in amber streaky glass, several types with some bright blue points. The greenery is shaded blue and purple as I have tried to realistically copy the colouring of the real flower.
I've infilled the top with blue, purple streaky glass and the bottom with light green streaky.
As well as a flower I think it has the appearance of a bird with its claw propping up its beak but maybe I'm being fanciful.
The suncatcher is in the form of a ring which I've encircled with twisted wire for strength and neatness.
It's 6 inches in diameter.
The 5th photo is of the original version I made for a commission. You can see they are the same design but different as, as for all my pieces, I never use exactly the the same combinations of glass.
This is beautifully bright, simple and cheerful and casts lovely colours when it hangs in the light of a window.
It hangs from a strong silvery chain which is securely attached at either side of the top.
I designed this for a commission. Was so delighted with the result that I immediately made another for my Folksy shop.
I post this piece lst class, signed for to provide cover as per Royal Mail value limits.
