I started drawing animals when I was a wee child, I love to explore their shape and character. I use basic shapes for their bodies and then break them down into little sections and create patterns within. I use dots, semi circles, lines and curved shapes to add the detail.
The bee is a key symbol of Manchester (where I live) so it seemed an obvious starting point.
My love of animals and my love of puns seemed like a match made in heaven so of course I put the two together! As bees are so important to life they definitely need a name.... so I named this one Bertha.
The bee was hand drawn in my little studio in our recently converted cellar and coloured with my new favourite pens! (Windsor and Newton)
