A yellow wooden pot with an orange yew finial and purple dots. 198mm tall over all, 71mm wide overall, the bottom part of the pot is 84mm high with a tapered internal diameter of 51mm at its widest at the top, being approx. 43 mm deep. The finial on top is approx. 86 mm tall. The yellow hardwood is an over seas species that I bought from Timber line (but I lost the sticker saying its proper name: all his timbers are from sustainable sources) weight 294 grams.
I finally got a day off as a supply teacher ( a rare event, and I do like keeping busy) so I made the yellow pot and inlayed some purple heart dots. Then I looked around and found a nice apple wood piece that I turned five or six years ago and combined it with a yew finial top that I turned at Easter. The apple wood is from my garden, the Yew from my parents garden and both were cut and seasoned 6 or 7 years ago. A nice pot with a firm fitting lid My hope is somebody will love it as an ornament and to keep those small nick nacks safe, keys, butterflies, rings etc (and maybe use the finial as a necklace stand, it depends on if you have necklaces of that size) The fifth photo shows is beiing made after the purple heart dowels were glued in, waiting to be turned and sanded, then treated with sandiing sealer and a bees wax final coat to add a nice lustre.
