This is one of the first things I made after I got a lathe. The pear is from my garden and the Columbian Kingswood is from Timberline in Tonbridge ( a luthier supplier that sources sustainable timbers from around theb world), it just seemed to match to my eye, so I paid some hard cash for the base and turned them both an joined them together. I was tempted to turn them into an electric lamp holder ( which I may do if it doesn't sell), ATM it is looking for a new owner to love it as much, if not more than I enjoyed making it....as I need the space...

Full description

Spalted Pear with Columbian Kingswood base Candle Holder. The base is 122mm diameter, 33mm high. Overall it is 263mm tall and weighs 642 grams. The pear was from a tree in my garden that I pruned, then seasoned in a wood pile where it got a beautiful spalted colour, that really needs to be seen to be appreciated. The top is a solid brass fitting. The base has a series of diagonal lines cut into a band (using a special tool from crown tools).
