I've got a fig tree at the bottom of the garden, that I've grown from a small plat my Aunty Betty gave me years ago, After a pruning, some pieces ended up on the wood pile. After a few years of seasoning, this one became spalted (microbes from the soil make a lovely colour in the wood grain: it is an entirely natural and quite sought after effect). I turned it on the lathe and finished it with Melamine Lacquer from Chestnut products which list is suitable for toys. It has had a cover of bees wax to add a lustre, but due to its delicate nature I'm not sure food or drink would be suitable, it is a very light weight object.

65mm diameter x 78 mm tall. 80 Grams weight. A lovely little Bowl / cup:- but not really for foodstuffs or drinks, as Fig is a delicate light wood. Ideal for storing those little nick-knacks on a dressing table of mantle piece or a shelf
