This little (11cm x 16.5cm) drawstring bag is made from Liberty of London Tana Lawn cotton. The design is Eloise which dates from the 1960's but was redesigned in 2005. I've tried to use a ribbon which picks out one of the colours in the design. The ribbon is double sided satin made by Berisford's.
I was confined to barracks last winter and making these little bags helped me cope. I've always loved Liberty prints and then I discovered that Mr Liberty himself, actually Sir Arthur Lasenby Liberty, was born in Chesham and once he had established himself in London returned here. I'm not a seamstress but I inherited my mother's Singer sewing machine, I worked out how to make these little bags and off I went. I have given many away, filled with miniature toiletries, sewing kits and small pieces of jewellery, but these are for you to put something special in.
