There shall be quite a few new items - spoons and bowls - coming into the shop between now and Christmas. A lot of them will feature coloured handles, chip carved features and kolrosed designs which I have been working on over the summer. If you want a preview try visiting - https://www.instagram.com/dhcraftwork .
A versatile spoon handcarved from silver birch. There was no real type name for it so I settled on Spoon Spoon. Developed in Nant Peris, it is handy for cooking, serving or eating, a short version of the old school Swedish country spoon.
The spoon spoon is about 8 inches long. The star anise shape handle boss has a simple design kolrosed with paprika!
Finished with culinary grade linseed oil.
As always.... just rinse and wipe to best care for a wood spoon. Don't leave it soaking in hot dishwater or destroy it in a dishwasher machine...it doesn't enjoy or need such zeal. Every now and then (probably once a month when in daily use), I rub some culinary linseed or walnut oil into it when it has dried to replenish the wood.
They darken up over time and take on a friendly familiar personality.
