I've made this one of a kind Sock Monkey from a pair of 'Original Rockford Red Heel Socks' by Fox River. The socks are a joy to work with, very soft being 87% cotton. The red heels are perfectly placed to form a beautiful smiling mouth and a cheeky red bottom!
This cheeky monkey is wearing a gold sparkly spotted ribbon around his neck tied into a bow and he has a beaded bracelet around his wrist .
I've used mother of pearl buttons for his eyes and his facial features have been hand sewn using thick embroidery thread, he also has woollen laces around the white parts of his legs. He comes with a hand crocheted green pointy hat embellished with a green feather and three small mother of pearl buttons. He is 50cm tall from head to toe and is stuffed with polyester fibre fill.
The story on the packaging says "Original Rockford Red Heel Socks are part of American history. Born in 1880, these socks helped shape an industrial age in America and became the most famous socks in the world. ... "For generations these socks and the sock toys they make have warmed hearts and inspired creativity".
A great fun addition for grown-up collectors of Red Heel sock monkeys. Looks fabulous sitting on an appropriate shelf!
