I wanted to create a small box with a marbled surface suitable for holding small items.
It also offers an alternative to the more traditional technique of marquetry decoration I have used on my other boxes.

Full description
I have made this box from recycled wood in my workshop and have fitted good quality brass hinges and catch.
I have decorated it using a technique called marbling. This applies a unique coloured pattern on the wood using inks yet still allows the grain of the wood to show through. On this box I have limited the colours to black and white for a more subtle effect.
It is then sealed with a hard wearing varnish to protect it.
Inside the box is partially lined with black baize with soft tabs underneath to protect any polished surfaces.
