CHARIVARI! The oldest and most rockin' band around! Based in Medieval times and probably before a charivari band would cause absolute noise and mayhem in a social context. Sometimes known as a Skimmington Ride, these bands of villagers expressed their disapproval by pot banging, mock parades, sometimes in disguise. In Cornwall, these bands would be called Shallal bands and often appeared at weddings that weren't thought well of, and as japes!
