Brilliant red poppies and white daises are scattered through the ripening corn in this hand-stitched art work.
Sky blue wool fibers have been felted to a background of 'eco' felt (produced from recycled plastic bottles) using an embellisher machine. A wide variety of yarn snippets, carefully collected from other yarn projects, have been added to represent the poppy field with its ripening corn. Poppies have been felted into the background using snips of chunky red yarn. Stitching in fine cotton has been added to the sky and meadows to 'stabilise' the felting. The distant poppies and daisies have been represented by French knots. Poppies in the foreground have been stitched in organza ribbon.
The back of the piece is neatened by a second piece of felt. A loop of crochet cotton is securely stitched in place to hang the design.
Height: 21.5 cm approx.
Width: 14 cm approx.
