Full description
I have made this box from a solid piece of oak recycled from a local kitchen manufacture!
The inside has been removed leaving a hollow with nicely rounded corners and a box with no joints.
The lid has a marquetry design of a sunrise with some stylised birds added for a 3D effect. The woods used here are koto, sapele and cedar to provide a good contrast.
All my marquetry is hand cut and fitted to a high standard. Each box is individual and unique based on the wood available.
I have finished the box with hard wearing varnish and wax polish to produce a soft sheen.
The box is also varnished inside and the base is lined with black baize. The base is concealed with a rebate and 4 small felt pads underneath protect any polished surfaces.
