Welcome to my Folksy shop in which you will find a variety of hand-stitched accessories for you and your home, many of which make lovely (and easy-to-post) gifts. I stitch in a variety of styles, combining traditional embroidery with other textile techniques such as felting, weaving, hand dyeing and silk painting. The re-purposing of vintage threads and fabrics, and the re-cycling of vintage linens and lace, are recurring themes and my listings include a small selection of vintage textile supplies.
A frosty hillside scene, with tiny sheep, snowdrops, holly and conifers, decorates this embroidered felt brooch.
A selection of hand-dyed fibres have been felted to a background of eco felt (produced from recycled plastic bottles) using an embellisher machine. Conifers, holly, tiny sheep, snowdrops, and a tiny hillside house have all been added with simple embroidery stitches. The design is enhanced, and stabilised, by hand stitching in fine cottons.
The brooch is edged in couching over a twist of blue yarn with red white and green threads. The back of the brooch is neatened by a second layer of eco felt and a brooch pin is securely stitched in place
