This piece was shortlisted in the final of a printmaking competition hosted online by Jackson`s Art Supplies, one of the UK`s leading art supplies stockists.

It`s a monotype print made using acrylic paints on a gelli plate. When dry, I painted some details directly onto the image, again in acrylic. I use only artist quality paints, such as Winsor and Newton, Amsterdam and Golden Artist Colors.

A monotype print is a one-off print that is made on a printing plate, in this case a gelatin plate or a gelli-plate. It doesn't come in an edition, but is a one of a kind unique piece of art.

It comes with a small mount and a rustic, wooden, brown/black frame, and is glazed (with glass), with fixtures and cord on the back, ready to hang.

It measures 20 x 27 cms
and including the frame, 29 x 36 cms.

it will be packaged securely for transit, sent insured, and will require a signature upon delivery.

I have sketchbooks full of quick, spontaneous drawings from walks to the local wildfowl park in Broughshane village and am a member of the RSPB and The National Trust. I was perusing through an old one, and came across some of a few swans and decided they were just what was needed to complete this piece. They also feature regularly in Irish folklore. The roots, or at least that is what they are supposed to look like, were made using my own handcut stencil of a tree turned upside down. The tree was part of a watercolour painting that I didn`t feel was working out, so rather than bin the while thing, I decided to cut out the tree and use it in other work, something I do on quite a regular basis. A bit like the way I cook! I like to reinvent my leftovers :)

In the hopefully unlikely event of a return, postage must be covered by the buyer and the item returned to me in the same condition it was sent out in.
