The beauty of this veneer was all the inspiration I needed to make a really high quality box. I was very pleased how it turned out.

This box would grace any dressing table or desk and is an ideal size to store jewellery, make-up or small stationary items.
I have made this box from recycled hardwood and fully veneered it in stunning burr madrone. This is an exotic hardwood with a very dramatic and intricate grain pattern, as shown in the detail view)
I decided to forgo any additional marquetry as the grain is decorative enough on its own.
It is finished to a very high standard and is super smooth with hand polished polyurethane varnish.
The box has inset solid brass hinges and a solid brass clasp to secure the lid. Inside the base is lined with felt and felt pads underneath will protect any surfaces.
