This box is a real one-off!
The stained black veneer has an unusual mottled effect reminiscent of silk when viewed against the light.
I have added black and white banding to create a unique and eye-catching design.
I have veneered this hardwood box all round and finished it with brass hinges and a decorative brass clasp to secure the lid.
The box is entirely hand-made from recycled hardwood.
The finish is super smooth, semi matt surface of hard wearing polyurethane varnish.
The inside is felt lined with small felt bumpers on the underneath.

I wanted to make something a little different from the `brown boxes` I normally make. The design was inspired from the silk like finish I got from the black stained veneer.
