I wanted to put together something simple and traditional but adaptable as well. Wherever it is hung, it appears slightly different in the changing direction of the light..

Full description

A wall plaque relief carving of a Hare.

This carving is made on a piece cedar wood and is a hare snoozing in the undergrowth.

The two oak hanging pegs are oak and the suspension is plaited raw cotton.

The relief is hand carved and I avoided over finishing with abrasive papers etc so as to retain enough of the tooling to give it as much dynamic depth as possible. I hope that works!

It's coated with beeswax polish following raw linseed oil to bring out the grain and definition.

The plaque measures 30cm x 18cm and is about 20mm deep.

Designed by David Holmes in Nant Peris
