Carved as an asymmetrical development of the traditional Welsh cawl spoon design to give a few options in modern day saucepans and woks et all.
The rounder originals were usually carved from green sycamore on the farms and were splendidly suited for scooping cawl (magnificent lamb broth) from the round bottomed cauldren shaped kettles which were used in those days.

Full description

A cooking and serving spoon handcarved from seasoned Nant Gwynant oak heartwood.

Simple and straight handled with a capacious bowl worked into a slightly asymmetric design. The spoon is 13 inches long overall with a deep 3 inch bowl.

I made three of these but have ended up listing them separately as the figuring of the grain and the final finish of the bowls made each one unique.

The spoon has been hand sanded to a smooth finish but still retains the residual toolmarks from the carving process - therein lies the character I guess.

The final finish was cold pressed culinary grade linseed oil.
