Real Pressed Butterfly, Maple leaf & Bamboo leaf Lampshade.

30 cm diameter 22 cm height

Ethically sourced butterflies are collected after expiring naturally and preserved in the paper for you to enjoy. The sale of these butterflies helps with butterfly conservation, protecting forest habitats and providing indigenous tribes with income.

I use the delicate wings of the butterflies and add paper bodies where needed and fishing line antennae. The butterfly wings will last many years in the paper.

Japanese Maple leaves and fresh Bamboo leaves from my garden are dried & pressed before being placed within the Japanese washi paper. The paper has beautiful angel hair fibers and real gold and silver leaf flecks that shimmer.

The leaves and butterflies illuminate when the lampshade is in use and the coloured wings and shapes are enhanced.

Lampshades are sealed with a protective coat that can be wiped clean with a damp cloth.

30 cm diameter 22 cm height

Can be hung as a ceiling pendant lampshade or as a table or floor lampshade.

Comes with ring adapter for easy fitting.

A few years ago when shopping for lamp making paper, I came across two sheets of butterfly paper. The shop owner told me that the man in Japan who had made this paper for many years, had passed away and these were the last sheets. I bought them and made two beautiful lampshades with them.
Such beautiful paper should not be gone forever, so I now make the butterfly paper for you to enjoy.
It is important to me that the butterflies live full lives and expire naturally if they are to be used in my papers. I have carefully sourced these ethically collected butterflies for you.
