I wanted to paint a storm, the colours and power and expression of the violent sky and the movement of the sea. I painted this from a memory of a storm I'd witnessed where I could see the white of the sea closest to me, yet almost none of the vast stretch of it that went out to the horizon.
The sky, I actually love. Its colours, its marks. It looks quite apocalyptic, which is a feeling I often get from storms.
