Full description
This beautiful shawl could be used as an evening wrap, as an addition to a wedding dress or as a christening shawl. Hand-knitted in a fine 2 ply merino wool, the shawl is wonderfully soft and warm.
The pattern for the shawl is taken from the traditional lace knitting of Estonia and is known as maikell (lily of the valley). This pattern incorporates knobs or buttons termed nupps (rhymes with soup). Shawls were traditionally sold by weight, and adding nupps adds weight to the shawl thus increasing its value. The presence of nupps in a garment are proof that it has been handknitted as nupps cannot be made by machine.

Care instructions:
It should be washed by hand using a ‘delicate fabric’ detergent, then may be given a short spin before being reshaped and dried flat on a towel.
