My Terraced House lampshades are hand-printed using linocut or woodcut printing, with water based inks onto a beautiful white papery fabric. Depending on their size, each lampshade features at least two terraces and individual details such as trees, leaves, birds & chimney smoke. Some front doors are coloured in bright red or turquoise, but if you have a colour in mind for the doors this can be discussed when you make your order. As with anything hand-printed, there can be slight variations in the colour & texture of the print but as each lampshade is slightly different, in its arrangements of birds, smoking chimney etc, this just adds to its unique quality.
Each lampshade is backed with fire retardant clear PVC, and because the backing is clear the lampshades seem to glow when they are lit!

Measurements - Please state whether you would like your lampshade for a lamp stand or a pendant ceiling light.

I love making printed art work that has a function as well as being beautiful; so turning my prints into lampshades seemed like an obvious thing to try. As far as the theme is concerned, terraced houses are a feature of many towns and cities in Yorkshire. These terraced houses could be anywhere and many people who see my work comment that they used to live in a house just like my terraces. In fact, the terraced house that is the inspiration for these lampshades is in the area of Hillsborough, Sheffield, where I live. I wanted to create a 'Hillsborough' Terrace as Hillsborough is an area known mainly for football - if you type 'Hillsborough Terrace' into a search engine most of the images you see are football related. I just thought I'd have a play with that idea and celebrate some of the other great things about Hillsborough (apart from the football!).
